Version 3.4 was the final release to add 4uX (2.6.9-x) kernels.  Version 3.3 was the final release for 3uX (2.4.21-x).  All future development (version 3.5 and beyond) is expected be only for odd updates of  RHEL 5.

The original, unpatched kernels listed above are supported.  If you attempt to install the package on an unsupported kernel (e.g. *bigmem or 64bit-4u6),  the kernel driver will not load.

However, the TAMS L488 LAN GPIB adapter works on all RHEL 4 and later kernels, independant of the library. If you  need to use GPIB on an unsupported kernel, then use the  L488 LAN GPIB adapter.

CENTOS aims to be 100% binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. We don't test or support it, but some customers have successfully deployed our software on CENTOS.

To determine if you are using a supported kernel, type:

    uname -mr

If it prints 'i686', then you are running the 32-bit version. If it prints 'x86_64', then you are running the 64-bit version of the kernel.
