DOS Version
The HTBasic DOS version runs as an application under the DOS operating system.
All of the features of DOS are available to HTBasic programs including
industry standard networking systems, all of the popular software
applications, the DOS hierarchical file system and extendable files.
Program and data files can be freely interchanged between the two versions.
Utilities are supplied to copy programs and data files stored in BDAT, ASCII
and HP-UX format between LIF format floppy diskettes and DOS disks.
An Installing and Using Manual, User's Guide, Reference Manual, RS-232 Serial
and IEEE-488 controller card drivers, data acquisition card drivers, keyboard
templates and technical support are included.
The DOS version runs only on IBM PCs or 100% compatibles that feature a 386,
486 or Pentium-type processor. A 387 or 487 math coprocessor is highly
recommended.
It requires 2MB of memory and supports up to 16MB of memory. It makes
available for user programs and data about 1MB less than the total memory in
the computer. Only extended memory is supported, not expanded memory.
It also supports CSUBs produced by the Numeric Compiler, the Advanced Math
Library and compiled CSUBs generated with the HTBasic CSUB Toolkit.
Instrument Control
Loadable device drivers for almost every PC IEEE-488 card available and the
most popular PC data acquisition cards get you up and running fast.
Serial (RS-232) communication is interrupt driven and can use hardware or
software (XON/XOFF) handshaking. Up to 16 serial ports are supported.
Data Presentation
The display drivers support the Hercules Monochrome, CGA, EGA, VGA, most
Super-VGA displays in both 16 color and 256 color modes and graphics
accelerator cards containing either the S3 or ATI chip sets.
HTBasic also provides drivers for Epson, IBM, Postscript and HP compatible
printers, HPGL or HPGL/2 printers and plotters, PCX, GIF and DXF AutoCAD
interchange file drivers. Color HP-PCL printers are also supported.
A MicroSoft compatible mouse or any touch-screen, digitizer, light pen, etc.
which is MicroSoft mouse compatible can be used with HTBasic.
Data Analysis
Complex numbers, matrix math operations and multi-megabyte arrays all all
supported by HTBasic.
Add the Advanced Math Library for highly optimized functions such as curve
fitting, signal processing and an FFT routine capable of doing 34 1024-point
FFTs per second on a 50 MHz-486.
The HTBasic Numeric Compiler provides significant performance increases for
compiled math operations.
Transfer Utilities
HTBasic's transfer utilities allow you to effortlessly port your current HP
BASIC data and program files between HP Series 200/300 workstations and PCs.
Once transferred, programs can be run with little or no change avoiding time
consuming and costly program rewrites.
System Requirements
IBM PC, or 100% compatible with DOS 3.0 or later and 2 MBytes of RAM. A
386/486/Pentium class processor is required. Numeric coprocessor or internal
numeric processor is strongly recommended. Hercules monochrome, CGA, EGA,
VGA, Super-VGA graphics adapters. Distribution media is 3.5" floppy diskette.
