Current Release Status

The current release of HTBasic is 9.5. This includes the newest HTBasic 9.5 for Windows and both HTBasic Legacy products: HTBasic Legacy for DOS and HTBasic Legacy for Windows (3.1 support).

Overview of HTBasic for Windows

In the scientific and engineering world, matching an operating system to your test software is anything by an easy task. Introducing HTBasic, with a new windows-style editor and a new debugger. HTBasic for Windows represents the first time Rocky Mountain BASIC will include support for STATIC variables, LONG integers, and a DLL Toolkit. HTBasic for Windows

HTBasic for Windows provides all of the powerful features of Rocky Mountain BASIC under the most popular platform in history—Microsoft Windows. Features like fully hyper-linked on-line HELP documentation to provides program helps and examples on-the-fly.

HTBasic for Windows is implemented totally with 32-bit code making it compatible with the latest 32-bit versions of Windows from Microsoft including Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. HTBasic for Windows includes an Installing and Using Manual, User's Guide, HTBasic Plus Programming Guide, RS-232 Serial and IEEE-488 controller card drivers, and free technical support for the first 90 days following product installation.

HTBasic for Windows now includes HTBasic Plus, which produces dialog boxes that display questions, warnings, error messages or other critical information quickly and easily. User input can be as easy as a few lines of code that create dozens of widgets including keypads, menus, sliders, and pushbuttons.

HTBasic Legacy Versions

HTBasic Legacy for Windows

Several older versions of HTBasic are included with the new HTBasic for Windows product. These versions do not include much of the latest functionality including SEPARATE ALPHA FROM GRAPHICS, complete TRANSFER support, and most of the editor and debugging functions. However, the HTBasic Legacy Versions user interface conforms to the Rocky Mountain Basic standard thus programmers and users face little, if any, retraining.

HTBasic for Windows runs on IBM PCs or 100% compatibles that feature a 386, 486 or Pentium-type processor. It requires 4MB of memory, but 8MB is recommended. A 387 or later math coprocessor is highly recommended. Program and data files can be freely interchanged between the DOS and the HTBasic for Windows versions. It also supports CSUBs produced by the Numeric Compiler, the Advanced Math Library and compiled CSUBs generated with the HTBasic CSUB Toolkit.

HTBasic Legacy for DOS

The HTBasic DOS Version runs as an application under the DOS operating system. Without the overhead of Windows, HTBasic for DOS provides the best performing RMB for you PC. Further all of the features of DOS are available to HTBasic programs including industry standard networking systems, all of the popular software applications, the DOS hierarchical file system and extendable files. HTBasic for DOS also runs under Windows 3.x, Windows 95/98. HTBasic for DOS is not available under Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000.

Program and data files can be freely interchanged between HTBasic for Windows and HTBasic for DOS. It includes an Installing and Using Manual, User's Guide, Reference Manual, RS-232 Serial and IEEE-488 controller card drivers, data acquisition card drivers and free technical support. Utilities are also supplied to copy programs and data files stored in BDAT, ASCII and HP-UX format between LIF format floppy diskettes and DOS disks.

The DOS Version runs only on IBM PCs or 100% compatibles that feature a 386, 486 or Pentium-type processor and supports up to 16MB of memory. It requires of real and at least 1MB of extended memory. Only extended memory is supported, not expanded memory. A 387 or later math coprocessor is highly recommended.
